1 Field of application
This Standard is applicable to circuit-breakers (including circuit-breaker drives) designed to switch electrical circuits under normal or emergency conditions in three-phase, 50 Hz AC networks at rated voltage from 3 kV to 750 kV, inclusive.
This Standard is not applicable to special versions of circuit-breaker designed for:
-operation in fire- or explosion-hazardous environment (e.g., in gassy mines);
-frequent switching operations (e.g., in electrothermal plants);
-mobile electric-powered units (e.g., electric locomotives, electric-powered excavators);
-shipboard power installation.
This Standard does not set special requirements for circuit-breakers that work in high seismic conditions. Data about seismic resistance of such circuit-breakers should be given in technical conditions for circuit-breaker of concrete type (TC) and operating documents.
